The British Association for Islamic Studies is pleased to announce that there will be ten fee waivers available for doctoral students whose papers have been accepted as part of the 2017 conference programme.

If you are a UK-based doctoral student and you are planning to submit a paper for BRAIS 2017, you might be eligible to apply for a conference fee-waiver. You will be able to apply if you meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be in their second year or higher of their PhD programme
  • Applicants must be based at a UK or Republic of Ireland institution during the time of the conference
  • Applicants should provide a formal statement of support from their supervisor
  • Applicants’ papers must have been accepted for the 2017 BRAIS conference

Your PhD supervisor must also submit their statement of support by the 24th February. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with ‘BRAIS Bursary’ followed by your name as the subject.

Applications will be considered by the BRAIS Conference Committee and fee waivers will be awarded based on the excellence of the abstract, quality and originality of the research and the potential for subsequent research.
